Cathedral

Royal chappel
Entrance: 3€ Inside the cathedral you can find the tombs of the Catholic Kings. It possesses valuable paintings from the Flemish school. Monastery de la cartuja

Albayzin

the oldest part of the city with small squares and narrow streets which preserves the charming Arabian atmosphere, with the famous Cármenes (antique Arabic villas). From St. Nicolas square you have a wonderful view of the Alhambra with the Sierra Nevada as background.
The best way to visit this old city quarter is by citybus: you can take this special small busses at the Alhambra ore at the Plaza Nueva. Price around 1 € (do not use the city sightseeing bus which is much more expensive)

Sacromonte
inhabited caves and subterranean houses. Some of these caves are the setting for the tourist (flamenco show) organised every night by their inhabitants.

Alpujarras
a natural park which lies on the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada. Many very small villages with flat roofed houses are distinctive. Food – local wine – handcrafts including hand-woven rugs and curtains with Moorish influenced designs. The roads are very bad with lots of curves!

Guadix
famous for its more than 2000 caves that have been inhabited for centuries. You could have lunch at the cave hotel: Cuevas Pedro. Antonio. Alarcón) visit as well the cave museum in the city centre. Guadix has as well a nice cathedral. The area around Guadix looks a bit like the gran canyons
